Diary Entry #9

June 18, 1982

Gosh. It really still hasn't hit yet. Tomorrow morning, I'll be boarding the plane to Virginia. I'll be staying there for the week until we launch off on the 26th. I just can't believe it. They chose me. They really chose me. It feels like a dream come true. I've never wanted to be in space or anything like that, but Dr. McDonald told em going up could save people's lives. That's all I've ver wanted to do. Spending may getting to know the others and practice doing the space stuff was so amazing. Everyone is so nice. Except for Phil. He's a dick. But the rest of them are cool. No better crew to spend a month in space with. Well. Except maybe this same crew without Phil.

All I've ever wanted was to help people. now I can help a bunch of peoole. And the money I'll get from this is enough to pay back my student loans and then some. Maybe I can take care of mom for a change. My life is changing. It's never too late to turn things around. Never.
