Diary Entry #4

April 3, 1982

A miracle has fallen into my lap. I still can't believe it, not really.

I went to work today, at the diner, Marissa called me into the back. I thought I was getting fired for sure. But when I walked back there, a man in a long black coat was sat, waiting for me. He had a crooked smile, but kind eyes and introduced himself to me as Dr. McDonald. He sat across next to me and began talking about a new NASA program that was just beginning. To admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. Why would a NASA program want a random girl like me? But the more he talked, the more I started to believe him. Plus, the fact he came directly to my job calmed me down a bit. A scammer like that wouldn't risk coming to my place of employment... right. Anyways, he said my name had come up in a random drawing and he wanted to set up an interview with me for next friday. I haven't stopped thinking about it since. My whole life could change in six six days.

I've never wanted something I knew nothing about more.
